7 Quick Tips For Memorable Tea Presentations:
by Dawnya Sasse
Speaking in public is a great way to start and grow your dream tea business. In my class, Start A Tea Business (TM) I walk you through the specifics on how to become a tea specialist using speaking opportunities.
Have you recently been asked to speak at your local library, Rotary Club or women's group? Speaking can advance your tea business in numerous ways. A great presentation sets you apart as an expert in your field . Here are a few simple tips to keep you in tip top form:
1. Research Your Audience
(even do phone interviews with people who are planning to be in the audience.)
2. Practice
Use the bits, chunks and series method. Practice small bits, then larger chunks and finally the entire series of the presentation. Practice 50 times while you are doing something else out load. Especially rehearse the intro and close.
3.Have Strong Opinions and Use Emotional Language
Share a story such as childhood memory or an emotion that you have experienced in your life. Emotions evoke trust and will help you connect with your audience.
4. Reveal Yourself
Tell them a little bit about who you are, what your hobbies are, your family. When you are a real person people connect to you. Find something "inside" that they can connect with.
5. Use Props
Anything that you touch on stage can be a prop. Choose a hat, a tea pot, a costume or even keys. Desperate for help? Hide your speech notes within a strategically chosen prop.
6. Use Humor
Humor makes your information more memorable. Use a point, a humorous illustration then repeat the point. Your audience will beg for more!
7. Move Them To Action
Challenge your audience to do something. And give them calls to action. Should they incorporate tea into their health regime? Should they take more time for themselves? Should they treat someone they love to a tea date? Move your listeners by encouraging them to “Seize the Day!”
